Absolutely ADORABLE vintage cast glass shade featuring abundant nautical motifs, including 3-masted sailing ships, a lighthouse, and an anchor, all with wonderful rope borders, as well as a charming compass rose on the bottom. Original peach and red paint on the glass is intact (slight wear, nothing unusual for the age), and it has been fitted with a new center post fixture with 2 new sockets and wiring, custom painted red to match the fixture. I’ll admit, this fixture is truly so charming my wife and I almost kept it for ourselves! D It’s perfect for the nautical enthusiast, or for anyone who wants to gaze up and dream of adventure on the high seas. This type of novelty center post shade began to be made in the late 1930s, as houses began to have lower ceilings, and continued to be very popular up though the 1950s.
