Flush Mount Light Fixture with Vintage Cast Nautical Shade Sailing Ship Ceiling

Absolutely ADORABLE vintage cast glass shade featuring abundant nautical motifs, including 3-masted sailing ships, a lighthouse, and an anchor, all with wonderful rope borders, as well as a charming compass rose on the bottom. Original peach and red paint on the glass is intact (slight wear, nothing unusual for the age), and it has been fitted with a new center post fixture with 2 new sockets and wiring, custom painted red to match the fixture. I’ll admit, this fixture is truly so charming my wife and I almost kept it for ourselves! D It’s perfect for the nautical enthusiast, or for anyone who wants to gaze up and dream of adventure on the high seas. This type of novelty center post shade began to be made in the late 1930s, as houses began to have lower ceilings, and continued to be very popular up though the 1950s. I believe this example to be from the late 1940s. Please use the close-up feature to fully examine the details and condition of this vintage item. Bulbs and mounting hardware not included. Brass finial and shade washer are vintage. Shade is 10″ diameter X 4.5″ high. Total fixture & shade height 6.25. This old Nautical Light appears to be a Masthead Light. It is copper on the sides and bottom and has brass accents. There is a light socket inside but the cord has been cut. It does not have any makers markings only a small brass plate on the front that reads, STBD and some numbers on the bottom and underside of the lid. It is in good condition for its age, has a few dents from use and is missing one brass wing nut. It is very heavy. It measures about 11″ tall and 12″ wide.
