In good working order. Burns with a nice steady fame. Wick winder works well. Door catch and hinges good. Some blemishes on the glass but no damage. Smoke bell turns ok. Handle slightly distorted but sound and strong. Marked on the porcelain burner and the wick winder for Sherwoods Birmingham. This is much used lamp which is lamp-blacked inside. The brass is dull throughout with the odd bit of verdigris. I have left it as I found it. It comes with about 6 inches of wick which will last you a good while. It is about 26cm tall with the handle up. It is about 10cm wide at the widest point. It weighs about 575g empty. Some tips on usage. For a steady flame do not screw the smoke bell (on the top of the lamp) too tight. Allow air to circulate under the lamp. Standing it on a metal trivet or similar is ideal. Allow the wick to soak up fuel for a while after filling. Do not overfill the reservoir or the lamp may smoke too much when lit. Trim the wick every time you refill by cutting straight across the rop it to remove the brown bits. Always use premium paraffin or lamp oil. (kerosene in the US).
