Vintage Nautical Light

This Vintage Antique 1900s-1930s lamp is heavy duty! It weighs 2.10lbs! Thats because it was hand turned on a metal lathe out of Aluminum and brass stock in the early part of the 20th century. My understanding is that apprentice machinists in shipbuilding would have made these as part of their learning. It is WAY over engineered with a thick brass plate held on to a heavy turned aluminum core with large screws. The inside would make a good hiding place for something small, or a roll of Benjamins.. Or Washingtons in my case; The original silk covered cord was so disintegrated that I have rewired it with reproduction nylon wire that is a very close match. The cord is 6 feet in length and has an original Bakelite plug and a great period original. In-line switch made of Bakelite that I added for ease of use. There is a Mica inset in the removable top of the lighthouse that gives a nice soft warm amber glow. If you are looking for a brighter soft white light, it easily slips out.
