Antique Carved Cameo Mother of Pearl Clip on Candle Shade Nautical Design. This is a very rare and early item. It is a carved mother of pearl shell disc that was designed to clip onto a candle to act as a shade that would have a beautiful glow. The design is of a fisherman carrying his nets. I guarantee this piece to be at least from the 1800s, but Im not sure exactly how old it is. The condition is excellent with some light oxidation on the metal clip, but the clip still works great with proper tension in the spring. The disc alone measures 3 1/8 inches in diameter. The length of the whole piece including the metal clip is 5 inches. Someone was kind enough to send me the following message about this item. Hi, what a beautiful item.
