PAIR of Vintage/antique Wedge Copper & Brass Hanging Ships Onion Lamps in lovely condition. Diameter 19cm overall height 25cm not including handle and 30cm high with the handle. No Light fittings as all original but can easily have modern domestic electric fitting installed. Used for lighting in the 1800’s. Onion lanterns were designed to burn whale oil, and were used on ships. Made of copper & brass to resist harsh sea weather. The shape of the glass globe and surrounding cage make the lantern very sturdy, and they were extremely practical to use even in wind and rain. These are genuine lanterns and not an imitation rich in maritime history.
